Have you ever wondered how they came up with the "look" for ET?

I've always been sure that they got their inspiration for ET, the extra terrestrial, from a Galapagos Tortoise.

Really, that's what I've always imagined.

These photos were taken at the Reptile Walk, at the San Diego Zoo.  The photo above shows the females in the lower portion and the males in the upper area.  They're separated because the females are always fertile.

I go to the zoo, a lot, once or twice a month, but this is the first time I've visited the Reptile Walk.  The San Diego Zoo is huge and I love it.
