This hawk, maybe a Cooper's Hawk, visits near the bird feeders, regularly. When they see or hear him, the small birds, mostly finches, take off.
The other day, this little house finch flew into the patio door and knocked himself silly. The hawk swooped in and landed on the birdhouse on the patio table. He left right away when he spotted Bob.
He came back, frequently, but the house finch recovered; so there was no snack for him. If you know what type of hawk this is, please let me know.
Go take more photos,

Yep, it's a Cooper's Hawk all right. They do find small birds tasty. ;)
ReplyDeleteHe is certainly a nice looking visitor.
ReplyDeleteWe had a hawk visiting everyday and I enjoyed him until he took a dove, now I'd rather he went somewhere else to eat.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Jan, I know they have to eat too but glad he left without his snack this day!
ReplyDeleteI am still in Germany but was able to get on line today and moderate some comments. Wedding celebrations are winding down now :)
