Baby Takins


The top photos shows four adult and two baby Takins.

This young Takin is about 6 weeks old.  It was really fun watching him wrestle with the tree branch, trying to get it under control.




At the zoo, the Takins are found across from the Red Pandas, you pass them on the way to view the Giant Pandas.  In the wild, they live in the eastern Himalayas in the same areas as the pandas.

    I KNOW I've never seen or heard of them! Are they related to cattle or deer types?
    The baby is really cute!
