Sky Watch Friday

Full Wolf Moon - January - Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January's full Moon. Sometimes it was also referred to as the Old Moon, or the Moon After Yule. Some called it the Full Snow Moon, but most tribes applied that name to the next Moon.

The top photo was taken from inside the house, thru a double pane window. The one below, I stepped out on the patio. Both were taken with my trusty point and shoot.

  5. Wow Jan, those are great shots. I would love to be able to take a good moon picture and just can't seem to get one. I blamed it on my point and shoot, but you just took away that excuse ;>). I will just have to keep practicing and looking at your pictures in the meantime.
