Watery Wednesday

I don't know the name of this bird, but I thought he was handsome and considerate to pose for me.
Have a great Wednesday.

  1. His wings look peculiar - I like the symmetry of the middle one in particular. Very nice series.

  5. I don't know what it is either but it sure does have a long neck. It really did pose for you. I'm always glad to catch a bird but I hate when they just sit there. You got a good one. :-)

  8. Could be wrong but is it an Anhinga? I saw some very similar birds on a trip to the Everglades in Florida years ago. Great photos Jan.

  20. Thanks Jan for your wonderful comments. I too visit you often, but don't always leave a message. Sometimes I do my visiting late at night, and at a time when I really should be in bed.
The Anhinga is one of my favorites, mainly because we don't have them here. What a terrific group of shots. I believe this to be an adult female.

  22. That's amazing, what a neck and I was going to say, an anhinga. They're the birds that swim with their bodies in the water.
