
The lavender/gray pointy thing is two sepals that cover the bud, before it blooms.
Below is the bud, pushing the cap off.

Here, she's lost most of her petals,
and below, the resulting seed pod

What an amazing, brilliant colour! If I can't have pink, orange is my second choice and poppies are lovely. Easy to grow they say but so far they just don't seem to like it in my garden, sigh...
