Watery Wednesday

Four male mallards looking for a snack and one female, just looking. This photo looks slightly out of focus, and I posted it anyway. I love the "painterly" quality of it.

  1. I think it's okay to post it. I've had some great shots except they were out of focus. Sometimes you just like them anyway. :-) I love the motion in the water.

As for that stadium, it depends on what you mean by near. I think they were talking about building it in the City of Industry. It's not that close but.... not that far either. Distance wise, it's about a freeway away. The Dam is off the 210 Fwy. City of Industry is off the 60.

  4. I knew they weren't Mallards. I was glad somebody else said what they were, because I didn't know, and no reference book with me.

Out of focus is fine by me.

  5. It just shows that they're in motion that's how it came to be out of focus. Those are great shots anyway, and thanks for sharing.

  6. It works: its blurry, but the colors are rich, and it conveys a certain sense of motion. Plus, it's hydrologic, thus qualifying it for Watery Wednesday.

  8. It DOES look painterly, Jan. One female and four males? Hmmm. She must be quite the catch...or their sister. ;-)

  9. Very often photos that are "imperfect" photographically are the mist interesting artistically. Last week's Thursday Challenge prompt was dedicated to that very concept in fact.

Figures the guys would be stuffing their faces while the girl looked on. Next thing they'll be taking over the living room, watching football, scratching themselves and making rude noises.

  10. Same here.. sometimes an opportunity is so fast. I like the picture because even if it's out of focus, you were able to capture it. I think it's all that matters.

My Watery Wednesday entry is posted here. Hope you can pass by if you have the time. Thanks!

  16. I agree, it looks painterly -- sort of impressionistic. It works!
