Watery Wednesday

On Friday, we drove to Long Beach, my home town. Our purpose was to visit the Tall Ships, visiting the harbor. Well, we saw the ships, but visits were be reservation only, made in advance, and only on the weekend. Oh, well, such is life. It was a beautiful day, and we had a great time. Above you can see the ships with the Queen Mary in the background.

These gentlemen were part of the "crew" or re-enactors.
The had a group of scouts on board at the time. Below is the reflection of the "California".

  2. I like those shots. Too bad you didn't get to go aboard any of them. I would love to see ships like this.

  4. Great shots, all of them. I was down at the Queen Mary not that long ago. It wasn't where I thought I was going but I wasn't disappointed.

  12. I love tall ships. There is one in Erie , Penna on Lake Erie called the Niagara. It's a wonderful ship and sails the Great Lakes in the summer. We got a chance to tour it several years ago. What a unique experiene.

  15. Jan, did you see any pelicans? I love The Tall Ships. It's hard to imagine the upkeep on them but they're well worth the effort, at least from the dockside point of view.
