Sky Watch Friday

We had a beautiful "mackerel" sky Monday morning. The first shot was taken from my backyard, at 6:30 AM.

The middle two photos were taken about 1 PM. You can see the clouds were moving fast.

The last photo was taken Monday evening while we were walking the dogs, about 4:30 PM.

  4. Beautiful all day. I'm amazed the same types of clouds stayed all day. That almost never happens here.

  5. What contrasts! You had mackerel clouds all day.
I keep meaning to do a day long sky and it always slips my mind.
    A beautiful photo essay.

  6. Wow. I have a post scheduled in a few weeks called "Mackerel Sky" wherein I ask exactly where that term came from. I've heard it all my life, and I know what it refers to but I never saw the connection between clouds and fish.

  23. What a nice idea to present us the all day long clouds.
Colors on the first one look unreal and so soft, the followings pictures with their cover of clouds seem so thick, and protective.
